There are several things that you can do at work, school and at home to help cope with Adult ADHD.
1. While you are working, keep only what you're working on in front of you. Move everything else that might distract you out of the way.
2. Don't drift off and do something else. Set a timer for at least 10 minutes and stay focused for those 10 minutes.
3. If you find yourself drifting during a conversation, ask the person to repeat what they have said.
4. Only choose the tasks that you know you can accomplish. Don't take on more than you can actually complete.
5. Get assistance to complete a task. You might even need to hire someone to help you if you can afford it.
6. Start with the task that you hate doing the most. Once you have successfully completed that job, you will be more likely to accomplish other tasks on your list.
7. Find creative ways to get things done. Have fun with it.
8. Get your family involved. Have each member of the family have a specific job to be in charge of. Rotate chores to reduce boredom.
9. Use the "10 in 10" method to get rid of clutter. Pick up a garbage bag and walk through your office or house and find 10 things to throw away in 10 minutes. Make sure to do this once a week to keep clutter to a minimum.
10. When someone is talking, try to concentrate on waiting until they end a sentence before you jump in. If you have a question, ask permission before asking.
